My name is santhosh. I constructed a cluster with Rocks. Am facing a problem, please help me out if you know.
When i boot the headnode in the GUI, with startx, and then later if i logout, the system gets hanged. And also, if the init level is changed from 3(default) to 5 for GUI, the systems goes into kernal panic.

Please let me know if you know the solution.

Regards
santhosh

Re: Rocks: Cluster in a Can

It is indeed possible to use yum with Rocks, but it gets a little less trivial when you take into consideration that certain packages should only be installed on certain types of nodes. For instance, there is a difference between storage and compute nodes.

Re: Rocks: Cluster in a Can

Looks really interesting. I wonder if it's possible to just put update RPMs in a yum repository for normal upgrades (that is, new RPM packages, no hand modifications of config files).

Meanwhile, I'm in Jakarta where cheap pirated software for Windows abound, but nobody even has Fedora Core 4 / x86-64, and download costs are exorbitant on remotely fast connections :P Will have to check out Rocks when I get back.
